EMONA Visits UNSW’s Upgraded Telecommunications TIMS Lab

Strengthening hands-on learning with modern TIMS systems and emerging SDR capabilities.

The EMONA team was delighted to visit the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and meet with the Head of School, Professor Jinhong Yuan, at their newly refurbished Telecommunications TIMS Lab.

It was a particularly meaningful visit, as UNSW is the original home of the TIMS lab equipment. Today, the lab continues to lead the way, now fully equipped with the latest TIMS 304C systems, supporting modern teaching in communications and signal processing.

During the visit, there were valuable discussions around integrating Software Defined Radio (SDR) capabilities into the TIMS platform. This opens up exciting possibilities for expanding the learning experience and keeping pace with current industry technologies.

With strong connections between EMONA and UNSW - including several EMONA team members who are UNSW alumni - the visit highlighted the potential for future collaboration. We look forward to working closely with the UNSW team to further enhance hands-on telecommunications education.
