Emona releases IoT (Internet of Things) Experiments

TIMS now offers 3 new format, “explorative” experiments, which guide students into the theory behind how IoT works at the physical layer. Each lab experiments comes with a teacher’s text with solutions and sample waveforms. TIMS “explorative” experiments are more open ended, and require the student to think and work out solutions to complete the experiment. The three available experiments are  – Chirp Spread Spectrum IoT, Ultra Wide Band IoT and ASK + Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum IoT. Contact Us for more info.

sdr software defined radio

New SDR Utilities Module

The new TIMS-451 SDR Utilities Module does the educational introduction to software defined radio with TIMS. It provides a platform for complex signal processing applications as well as research capabilities to the Emona TIMS telecoms learning system environment. Quickly and easily introduce students to the world of SDR, with both software and hardware. Our experiment template files help you code your own experiments without tedious file downloads, Linux installations and compilation.

TIMS-SDR Kit is zero-install, plug-and-play
Includes complete Linux and latest GNU Radio on USB stick
Unleash the power of GNU Radio with TIMS

net-CIRCUIT-labs– Emona Remote Electronics Lab

netCIRCUITlabs delivers real-time control and measurement of real electronics circuits to multiple students, simultaneously, via LAN and the Internet, 24/7. Now your students can attend class anytime, from anywhere, expanding the reach of your course. 25 or more simultaneous students per Server, with each student accessing any experiment on the APPLICATIONS board. Instantly accessible via each student’s PC, laptop or tablet via web browser. Please visit www.netcircuitlabs.com

turbo coding

TIMS Turbo Coding Experiments

TIMS allows students to see and experience the incredible performance of Turbo Coding, which amazed so many experts in the field of error control coding at the time of its introduction. Using TIMS plug-in modules and the TIMS-DSP, students can quickly patch together a complete Turbo Coding experiment then view and measure performance with real signals, in real-time – not just simulation.

physics of fibers

ETT-101-32: Physics of Fibers Accessory kit

The ETT-101-32 PHYSICS OF FIBERS ACCESSORY KIT is used together with the ETT-101 and the ETT-101-30 FIBER OPTICS expansion board. The new ETT-101-32 Physics of Fibers Accessory Kit adds the physics topics critical in the understanding of modern fiber optics communications:

Guiding Light Using Total Internal Reflection,  Losses in Fiber Optic Networks, Polarization, Bending Losses in Fiber Optic Systems, Connectors.

New OFDM Experiments

The advanced TIMS OFDM experiments are implemented on the TIMS-DSP-6713 module and used alongside other TIMS modules to build up complete experiments at both baseband and bandpass channels. Up to 20 subcarriers are used with QAM mapping. Hands-on hardware experiments teaching the fundamentals of SDR using DSP and real signals!

Signals & Systems Experiments – V2

TIMS offers the capability to create both continuous-time structures with integrators, discrete-time IIR and FIR structures, convolution, sampling, complex numbers and much more. Students find complex numbers and system analysis difficult to relate to the real world, even though these concepts have important real world applications. By completing ‘hands-on’ experiments closely related to the theory, students ‘learn by doing’ and consolidate their understanding.
